The Election in Papua is Illegal

Jayapura, Jelata News - General Secretary of KNPB, Ones Suhuniap on his press release on April 3, 2018 valued,  the Indonesian Election in Papua actually illegal because Papuans never felt,  they were the parts of Indonesia during 56 years Indonesian occupation in West Papua.

Therefore,  he stated, the Indonesian existence in Papua as colonialists, they are not legally government of society in Papua because Papuans never formed and  admitted Indonesian government as theirs.

He also wrote, in the fact, August 17, 1945 when the Indonesian proclaimed their Independence day, Papuans never participated on the proclamation.

"Then after proclamation on August18 -19, 1945 the Indonesian continued to divide territory and  formalize first Indonesian governmental cabinet. In that territorial division, Indonesian officially divided into 8 regions, not include West Papua region, in the first meeting of PPKI (Indonesian Committee for Independence Preparation). The 8 regions is from Sabang to Amboina."

He also wrote, that's why Papuan valued Indonesian and all their programs include the election in West Papua are not educate democracy for Papuans, but those just create conflict for Papuans to kill each other.

"It is part of compete politics to annihilate indigenous people of Papua systematically and structurally," he wrote.

"Therefore, we KNPB, West Papua National Committee as society media announce some refusal  attitudes:

1. As long as Papuan society never give space for self determination right, Indonesian election in Papua is illegal.

2 . KNPB will never participate on governor and regent election  as well as legislative election.

3. KNPB is not support a candidate. There is an issue spread out in society that KNPB give support to a Governor Candidate is not right. To governor candidate and his supporters do not use Free Papua issue as a bargaining position.

4. KNPB announce to public that if KNPB members  or managers have participated on the election, it means not behalf of organization but individual willing, that's why we central KNPB will fired the person.

5. KNPB announce to local bourgeois who will be a candidate in order to do not sacrifice Papuan civilians. Papuan civilian from Sorong to Merauke for your any political interests."
